Why do religious people think god is so obsessive compulsive that he cares about their silly rituals?

because that's what the Quran says to do. they believe that the Quran is the true word of God, so they do everything it says to do in order to worship him. to them it's not silly...it's means a lot to them to be able to please God in whatever way the Quran says to.
