Do people still steal seat belts to make fashion accessories?

wow, I really like that bag. I am not sure if this still happens but I have seen seat belts as belts bought in a store. If you like the idea, maybe you can go to an auto salvage junk yard to get some seat belts without the risk of being ejected from the airplane.
